How do I match shaft length to my boat?
Measure from your mount point straight down to the waterline, then add 18–20 inches of margin. That keeps the prop buried when the bow lifts in chop instead of ventilating and losing thrust.
Can I use a freshwater trolling motor in saltwater?
Technically yes, but you shouldn't. Freshwater motors corrode in saltwater in under a year and most manufacturers will void the warranty. Always buy a saltwater-rated model for coastal use.
